Movies about age

As this week’s theme was age, I took time to compile some movies that talk about age in all sorts of ways.  They are meant to entertain every age group, so got out and catch one of them. Enjoy.

Grumpy old men

John and Max are elderly men living next door to each other. They’re continuously arguing and insulting each other, and have been this way for over 50 years. One day, Ariel, moves into the street. Both men are attracted to her, and their rivalry steps up a gear.
Director: Donald Petrie
Writer: Mark Steven Johnson
Stars:Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau and Ann-Margret

Fox fire

Jessica Tandy and Hume Cronyn, stars of the Broadway drama Foxfire, recreate their stage roles in this TV-movie adaptation. Tandy plays a 79-year-old Georgia mountain woman, whose highly prized independence is threatened when she sells her land. Cronyn plays Tandy’s husband, who though long dead offers her comfort, criticism and advice in spectral form. The story’s continuity straddles both past, personified by Cronyn, and present, represented by the domestic travails of Tandy’s folk-singer son John Denver.
