AS Kigali vs Sunrise, 3.00PM (Bugesera Stadium)

AS Kigali skipper Jacques Tuyisenge is confident his side can take their Rwanda Premier League top spot back with a win over visitors Sunrise when the pair square off Thursday at Bugesera Stadium.

Andre Casa Mbungo’s side finished the first round of the league campaign leading the table but endured a poor start to the second round of the league during which they lost twice in their last four matches which cost them the top spot as a result.

The City of Kigali-sponsored side beat Rwamagana last weekend to end their two-game losing streak and hence moved a point behind leaders APR.

Tuyisenge said that the win in Rwamagana restored their confidence in the title race and victory over Sunrise would not only see them go two points clear at the top but also fulfil their revenge over a side that beat them 2-1 in Nyagatare during the first round of the league.

"We are happy with the manner in which we responded to our recent setbacks to return to winning ways against Rwamagana. That puts us in a good position going into the next game against Sunrise,” Tuyisenge told Times Sport.

"It’s going to be a tough game but we’re perfectly ready, we are pushing higher and improving day by day,” He added.

Sunrise play their first game without head coach Innocent Seninga on the touchline as he and his assistant Gilbert Tugirimana remain suspended for 15 days following the club's persisting poor run of results in Rwanda Premier League.

The Nyagatare-based club has failed to record a single victory in the last four matches they played during the second round of the league, having drawn once, against Bugesera, before suffering three consecutive defeats including a 2-1 home loss to relegation-threatened Marines FC last weekend.
