Godberte Nyiranshuti
Job description: Airtime Vendor
Salary: Rwf17for each airtime card sold at Rwf500

Godberte Nyiranshuti is stationed at Kwarubangura and has done the same job for the last two years.

"My earnings on a daily basis differ; it all depends on the day so I can’t estimate my average earnings. I manage to make Rwf17 from each MTN airtime card sold at Rwf500. I sell and earn the same amount on the Me 2 U services,” Nyiranshuti said.

She faces several challenges such as unfair refund of money when the network is down.

"When there is a network problem, Me 2 U clients tend to come back for refund and I end up encountering losses yet some clients lie and use the excuse to benefit,” she said.
"At times if we are not careful, when we give clients the phone to insert phone numbers so that we can send them Me 2 U, those that are familiar with the system and know the codes, tend to cheat us and give themselves airtime pretending they are recording their phone number,” Nyiranshuti complained.

In the airtime vending business, any mistakes encountered are the sole responsibility of the vendor who incurs the loss.
