CLUB Africain have named a 26-man team for Saturday’s Orange Champions League first leg tie against APR.
The Tunisian giants jet in this Thursday for the preliminary round match to be held at Amahoro Stadium.
The team includes three goal keepers, nine defenders, six midfielders and eight strikers including Cameroonian international Edouard Ndjodo.
After Saturday’s clash, the teams will clash in Tunis for the second leg. The winner of the two-legged contest will then progress to the first round of the coveted tournament.
APR have also upped their preparations as they seek to better last year’s performance were they were knocked out at the preliminary stage by eventual champions TP Mazembe.
Over the weekend, the military side continued their build up with a hard earned 1-0 win over DRC’s Vita Club.
Malawi international Victor Nyirenda scored the lone goal of the match, which had attracted a fairly big crowd at Amahoro Stadium.
Besides the players, the match was also a good warm up for Ernie Brandts who will be taking charge of his first game in Africa’s premier club competition.
The Dutchman, who joined at the end of last season, has enjoyed a good start after winning his opening nine games in the Primus National Football League (PNFL) but it is left to be seen if APR can transform that form on the continental scene.
The winner will play either Egypt’s Zamalek or Ulinzi Stars of Kenya in the first round.
