NATASHA’S CHRONICLES : The Character of Generosity

As I spent time with an aunt of mine, I learnt one of the most valuable lessons in life. Those who desire a truly content life look back and say, “My life has been worth living because I wasn’t selfish with it but shared it with those around me.”

As I spent time with an aunt of mine, I learnt one of the most valuable lessons in life. Those who desire a truly content life look back and say, "My life has been worth living because I wasn’t selfish with it but shared it with those around me.”

Being the marvelous cook that she has always been, the first thing she did was prepare our family a heavy and healthy dinner and didn’t sit down to eat until we’d all had our fill. And being us of course, we included ice cream for dessert and set for bed.

Since the next day had been scheduled for our journey to her farmhouse for the night, our cousins whom we’d never met joined us. Nevertheless, the next 10 minutes were filled with excitement, stories and noise that was uncontrollable! While on our way, we stopped several times to buy whatever we needed at the farm.

Even though we were 19 in total, she catered for all the food, snacks, drinks, airtime, etc, that we all needed and made sure each of us was satisfied and comfortable. The rest of the time spent at the farm, helping out, having fun with our new found friends was full of joy. This came true because of one woman who was overjoyed by what she had to offer to others.

I went on to observe how she treated her workers, from the way she addressed them, to how she appreciated their service, and I was surprised at how the way she made them feel like a part of the family—while on our way, she bought some food stuffs for each of them and their families for no other reason except to give them a treat.

Even if she has dinner with her family in a restaurant, their driver will share the exact same meal: My point is, she will treat everyone as her own and she will be sure to live you amazed.

The most interesting part is how much she portrays such warmth and joy of giving, without expecting return favours. She gives whole heartedly with such faith, love, humbleness and selflessness. Additionally, she speaks so many words of wisdom as long as you are willing to listen.

By now, you must have guessed I really look up to this great lady, well, you are just half right because it is more than that.

To you, I present this true story of an extra-ordinary character of generosity, which in the midst of fault, will pull you through, which in the midst of all darkness in life, will save you from harm and in the face of adversity, will be your shield; it is my prayer that it will be a story that changes you somewhere at heart.
