Renowned Cultural Troupe Inyamibwa will treat cultural enthusiasts to an entertaining show as part of their 25th anniversary celebration on March 19, at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV).

Dubbed ‘Urwejejimana’, the concert is organised and will be headlined by the youth from Genocide Survivors Students’ Association (AERG) comprised of singers and dancers.

The dancing group includes well-known people such as actress Ange Muvunyi commonly known as Mimi, Miss Supranational 2021 Anita Kate Umuratwa, Miss Heritage 2020 Nicole Teta Ndenga, Jo Twins, Melissa Keza and Chris and Landry among others.

Inyamibwa AERG Cultural troupe is renowned for their exceptional performances, which they primarily give during traditional weddings. The troupe was started in 1998 by a group of students from AERG at University of Rwanda with the aim of promoting the culture through dance.

Rodrigue Rusagara, the manager of the troupe said that the event was planned this year especially to commemorate their 25th anniversary.

"‘Urwejejimana’ concert represents Rwanda’s everlasting victory and prosperity and relates it to the troupe’s journey and growth for the past years. This year, we honor a university group that began on campus and has since achieved success on a global scale.”

"From vocalists to dancers, our ensemble has advanced substantially over the past 25 years and that deserves a celebration. We cordially invite everyone who cherishes Inyamibwa and our culture to join us, and we pledge to provide them with an outstanding concert experience,” said Rusagara.

The group intends to perform concerts this year in secondary schools, universities, and other public venues in celebration of their 25th anniversary.

Inyamibwa has attended a number of events both inside and outside of Africa. They also participated in the 2021 Festival du Confolens, in France.

The group, one of the few that have endured the test of time, held a concert in 2018 to mark their 20th anniversary. A fully packed Camp Kigali witnessed the troupe's spectacular performance, which included drumming, dancing, and singing. The event was quite successful for the group.
