THE Confederation of East and Central Africa Football Federations (Cecafa) has lauded Rwanda for putting the region on the map by hosting the 9th Caf U-17 championship.

Cecafa’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye told Times Sport yesterday that the body is proud that the region is playing host to a continental tournament.

"It is a great feat for Rwanda and Cecafa as a region. We should not forget that in 2009, they also hosted the Caf U-20 championship and we hope that the junior wasps will put in a good performance not only for Rwanda but for the region as a whole,” said Musonye.

Musonye and Cecafa boss Leodegar Tenga are in the country to watch the tournament.
