A friend of mine called and asked me about what she could do to enhance her office décor, since every time she walked through her office doors; she felt withdrawn and lacked the spirit to work. I suggested a few tips to uplift the face of her office, and as well, her working spirit.

Spending 40 hours a week or more in an office can take a toll on even the best of us, but with some simple office decorating ideas, you can transform a stale environment into a welcoming work place that you can enjoy.

Additionally, I told her that by improving her office decor, she will likely also improve on her production. This is January most of us have no money to spend on anything extra apart from the very important things like rent, school fees, food e.t.c. So I went to redecorate my friend’s office without spending so much and she was so pleased.
Just a few things here and there;

Wall Paint:

Changing the colors in the office has a positive impact on the people around, especially if the colors were well chosen and coordinated. My friend wanted us to start with painting the entire office to something that was not very common. Colors can be a very powerful part of an office - they can inspire you, calm you down, or just make you feel at ease. And that can really help motivate you to get down to business! Take care when choosing paint colors in your office. We went for orange and cool green, painting the entire office in green and orange, then the pillars in the office were all painted orange, the office looked very cool and welcoming.

Furniture

There is no need to change furniture if at all what you have is still good. My friend’s furniture is still new, so we did not buy anything new apart from a water dispenser. We removed a cupboard which was used as a stand of a water kettle and replaced it with a water dispenser. On top of the water dispenser we made a wall cupboard to store all the office utilities like the cups, milk, and sugar. We re-arranged the office furniture to get more spacing for a conference table and moving around.

Art pieces,

On each of the orange pillar, we added a touch of art by hanging the peace baskets which really complemented on the walls. On the green walls a strip of art paper was taken round to break the monotony of the color green. On one wall, we placed two paintings in the middle to attract the attention of clients when they are waiting to be served.

Plants & Flower Pots

Another idea was to add some green. Plants are a great addition to any office space. Be sure to choose a plant that will thrive in the light your office receives. If your office gets no natural light, you can also consider an artificial plant or tree. Again, this can add some tranquility to what may be a fast paced environment. We added one huge plant pot on the entrance, and each table was decorated with a pot of dried flowers.

Vases

A vase is a beautiful accessory that can add a touch of elegance and sophistication in any room. We had one vase which was lying around the office; we used it and put it on top of the magazine table. This looked adorable and in place.

You do not need to break a bank when redecorating your office. A few tips here and there with the help of an expert, your office will look new and so will the people working in that office.
