THE Burundian Senate president Gervais Rufyikiri is to arrive in Kigali on Monday for a four day-visit to the Rwandan Senate to sign a cooperation agreement.

The agreement is geared towards enhancing the cooperation of the two senates through the exchange of expertise on political and economic issues.

Prosper Higiro, vice president of the Rwandan Senate, said yesterday in a telephone interview that the "agreement would allow the two senates to have a mutual assistance on development programmes."

"It is not only signing the agreement but also they are coming for a study tour of various parts of the county including the National University of Rwanda,"Senator Higiro said.

Higiro said that Rufyikiri is coming to see for himself Rwanda’s economic reforms and achievements of the last thirteen years.

"The delegation will be briefed on the decentralization process and how it works in promoting equitable economic development of the country," Higiro added.

Senator Rufyikiri and the delegation will hold talks with government officials on matters concerning the development of the two countries.
