At the beginning of every year people make New Year resolutions as a personal evaluation of achieving set goals. This is word on the street on whether these resolutions carry meaning or even hold water for those who make them.

"When you need to make positive changes in your life, resolutions for the New Year should be put in place because when you don’t have them it’s like living without a reason to live.”

Chantal Riziki, Gikondo resident.

"New Year Resolutions are important and of significance only if the person making them has a serious mind and firmly resolves to make a concerted effort to keep the resolutions made. Otherwise they are meaningless.”

Clarence Fernandes, Chairman of Rwanda Renaissance.

"It’s good to have new year resolution because whatever you do during the course of the year will help you to evaluate your goals and achievements.”

Shamim Cyubahiro, Kimironko resident.

"As a student, my New Year resolution would be to score higher than before. The main reason why I should have New Year a resolution is to check myself and see if there is something that I had to do and I never did it and look for the solution in next year.”

 Gracia Saro Mukobwa, Kimironko resident.

"If one can plan for just one day or even for a week what about a year? Seriously, if you want to live a meaningful life you should have new year resolutions in order to know your weaknesses and strengths.”

Brenda Ruzindana, Kimironko resident.

"When you don’t have New Year’s resolutions you can’t know whether you are improving or not. Even what you count as the achievement may be fate because you never thought of having it in the first place.”

Flavia Shukuru, DHL Employee.

"Whoever doesn’t have New Year resolutions is as good as dead because you have to plan for a better future and how you can achieve your goals. Life is like running a business so if you don’t plan very well, you end up getting losses.”

Godfrey Ruremesha, Businessman in Kigali city.

"Personally I think life without a resolution is like "sailing without a compass.” New Year resolutions help me to see where I went wrong so that I can correct myself next time.”

Josephine Nyebaza, Managing Director Intra Cargo.

"A man without a vision is like a car without an engine. It’s very hard and disappointing when people are living a miserable life where everything is done on probability. They never focus on what they want to do and how to achieve it.”

Kim Kizito, City Radio Presenter.
