A Christmas gift from my best friend

Christmas day is a time when Christians or believers in Christ remember the birth of Jesus Christ their saviour. He is believed to be the son of God. It is a celebration where different kinds of food and drink are shared.

Most spend the day in Church praying, giving thanks and offering to the Lord.

As a child, I grew up believing that Christmas was the only day when Father Christmas brought the gifts that we wished to have. We found presents under the Christmas tree which was well decorated with cards, lights with the melody Jingle bells. I looked forward to seeing the living room on Christmas mornings.

However, this Christmas I had no plans other than, spending the day at Church praying. That changed when I received a phone call from my mother informing me that a friend of mine called Oliver had come to see me. I immediately left Church.

Even though Oliver had been a very close friend of mine, I had not expected her to visit on X-Mas! My spirit was completely lifted.

She was dressed in a similar dress as mine—we bought them a few days earlier. She proposed that we spend the day outdoors having fun. It had spent a couple of years without eating ice-cream with her, so she asked if it was okay to go to a place in town and have some.

Before we left Oliver handed to me a wrapped in pink present (she knew my favourite colour was pink).
I wasn't expecting any gift from anyone. I opened the gift and inside was a necklace and a pink-covered diary.

The last time I got a necklace was when my mom gave me one on my birthday. I was so excited that I hugged and kissed my best friend for making my Christmas day wonderful.

The first thing I wrote in the diary was how I had spent Christmas with Oliver, my best friend.
