The country’s second largest telecom operator by subscriber base, Tigo Rwanda has launched a promotion dubbed ‘Top Up and Drive’ that will see one lucky winner walk away with brand new Toyota Fortuner worth Rwf35 million.

The promotion is part of the company’s celebration of its first year of operations in the country.

To participate in the competition, Tigo’s subscribers are required to accumulate points by topping airtime from as low Rwf500 to increase chances of winning the car.

"Upon recharge of airtime, an instant notification will be sent to the subscriber’s phone alerting the number of points accumulated at that time. One point is an equivalent to one single chance, so the more one tops up the higher the chances one stands,” Tigo’s Marketing Manager, Nina-Claudia Ndabaneze told Business Times.

According to Ndabaneze while points are accumulated on an ongoing basis till the 14th of January 2011, total points are what will be considered for the final draw.

A subscriber is able to find out accumulated points since beginning of promotion by checking their balance.

"Tigo is a dynamic company with dynamic promotions which are actually requested by the market,” said Tigo’s Go to Market Manager, Diego Camberos.  However, management said that Data (Modem) subscribers are excluded in the promotion.

The winner of the Toyota Fortuner will be announced on the 15th January 2011.
