Players Abroad: Tough weekend as Sahabo, Lomami and Kagere struggle

Rwandans plying their trade abroad had a weekend to forget as the likes of Hakim Sahabo and Warren Kamanzi were in action as their respective clubs registered mixed results in France.

Veteran attacker Meddie Kagere also had a quiet afternoon as his new club Singida lost 3-1 at the hands of former employers Simba SC in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Times Sport takes a look at how Rwandan players abroad performed over the weekend.

France

In the French U19 league, offensive midfielder Hakim Sahabo was in action and had a superb game for Lille who drew 1-1 with Caen U19.

Irvyn Lomami is sidelined through injury and was hence not part of the Lyon II team that was thrashed 3-0 by SC Lyon La Duchere in the local derby.

Right back Warren Kamanzi was replaced in the 62nd minute by Mikkel Desler as Toulouse lost 2-1 to PSG in the Ligue 1.

Belgium

Central midfielder Samuel Gueulette was introduced in the second half as his side Raal La Louviere lost 2-1 to Olympique Charleroi in the Belgian third tier.

In the Challenger League, Djihad Bizimana was again not in the KMSK Deinze team that beat Dender 1-0.

Tanzania

Meddie Kagere played full throttle for Singida Big Stars and excelled despite his side losing 3-1 to his former club Simba SC.

England

George Lewis Ishimwe was not in the Arsenal U21 team which beat Reading 2-1 in the Premier League Cup.

Noam Emeran was not in action last weekend as his Manchester United U21 side plays Everton U21 on Saturday, February 11.

Iraq

Faustin Usengimana, who is having an incredible season in Iraq, is expected to start for Al Qasim on Tuesday, February 6, when they host Al Shorta at the Karbala Stadium

Burundi

Ally Niyonzima featured for Bumamuru FC in their 2-1 defeat to Aigle Noirs.

Morocco

Emmanuel Imanishimwe had a break last weekend as his side AS FAR Rabat are concentrating on their CAF Confederation Cup tie against Egyptian side Pyramid FC on Sunday, February 12.

Syria

Ernest Sugira played full time for Al Wahda who lost 3-0 to Jableh.
