David Masengesho

As the world is fighting hard to conserve the environment, Teen Times is happy to share a light moment with David Masengesho, one of the hardworking youth in environmental conservation!

Tell us about yourself?
I have just finished my bachelor’s degree in Statistics at the National University of Rwanda. I like advocacy and I specialize on environmental protection.

How did you get into this?
When I was younger, I loved the green surrounding! As I grew older, things started changing! That meant that I had to stand up and save what I loved which was the environment in this case. This marked the beginning of my journey into environmental conservation.

Why do you think that people are destroying the environment?
The reason why I think people destroy the environment is because they do not know its importance hence they destroy it!

What are you doing to conserve the environment in your advocacy work?
I and other Nkambomers, are sensitizing the masses on the values of the environment. With this, we endeavor to open their eyes so that they can understand that destroying the environment is destroying the tomorrow of this country.

What are some of the challenges that you meet?
The biggest challenge we meet is funding. The money we use is from our own savings yet most of us are not employed. This means that we do not fully reach our cause. This has hampered us in even our movements in the villages yet these are one of the places that need immediate intervention!

What is your message for the youth?
I encourage young people worldwide to stand up and join efforts in environmental conservation. The environment needs us.
