In a lovely village behind a big city, lived a very brilliant cat. It was fat, gentle with bright glittering eyes.

She was chief of the village charged with the role of keeping and maintaining law and order; in fact, law and order prevailed in the entire village. She was a mother cat who had four kittens who used to welcome and direct visitors who came searching for her.

One evening just as the sun was setting, a rat came running so fast shouting, "save me, save me my friend”. The cat immediately jumped out of the hut and said, "what is it my friend?” But, sweating and trembling, the rat could not say anything.

At that moment, a cobra exposed itself and the rat started running again. "Stop running!” shouted the cat. Then the cat jumped and snatched the cobra. "Well done my friend for saving my life,” said the rat. This made the two become good friends.

One day, the cat left home for official duty and left the rat at her home. Later, the cat’s hut caught fire and burnt down. Suddenly, the rat rushed out leaving four young kittens inside.

The fire killed three of them and left one in a critical condition. When the mother cat came back, she was very shocked. She stamped on the ground and raised a lot of dust that reached the sky, and cat vowed to deal with whoever had contributed to the death of her kittens.

She buried her kittens across the main road to the city. She nursed the wounds of the only kitten that had survived the tragedy. Meanwhile, the kitten narrated to the chief cat of how the rat left them in a burning hut.

The two became enemies from that day on. Cats started eating rats and no man on earth has succeeded in uniting the two.
