KIGALI - The Auditor General’s Office has announced plans to investigate reports of abuse and financial mismanagement in the Genocide Survivors’ Fund (FARG).

Speaking at a press conference in Kigali yesterday, the deputy Auditor General, Obadiah R. Biraro said: "Indeed there are a few issues that have been highlighted in various reports indicating possible mismanagement in the Survivors fund. We plan to audit them soon”.

The press conference, held at the Auditor General’s Office in Kimihurura, was intended to brief reporters on the conclusion of ten years of partnership between the Auditor General’s Office and its international partners, including Netherlands and Sweden.

Biraro explained that in conjunction with the Ministry of Local government, a clear picture of alleged mismanagement of the housing project for Genocide survivors will also be realized.

On the partnership, he said that the AG’s office benefited a lot, including building the capacity of staff. The international partners have injected Euros 5.5 million in the last ten years.
