The most important factor of survival in long distance relationships is the commitment of a couple involved.
"With great power, comes great responsibility,” therefore, the ability for a woman to keep cheating a secret is based upon her specific need in a relationship. It’s easy to keep something secret when someone doesn’t feel it is wrong.

Even men can do that, but males have very different ideas about right and wrong and so are their needs in relationships.

So while the numbers of cheats soar towards the male side of the spectrum, that’s only because they are worse at keeping secrets (lying by omission). They admit to it because they know it’s wrong, and they feel genuine guilt and remorse.

When a man cheats, he knows that what he’s doing is wrong, despite his "reasons”. Men simply have a lesser capacity for justification of sexual cheating than women do. The chief reason is because sex -is- love to men. Sex is to a man what a good marriage (or a good quality relationship) is to a woman.

That is why a woman would be even more pissed off at a husband who spent more quality time with another woman, even if it was strictly platonic. She’d see that as cheating. She’d see that as adultery, regardless of whether it was sexual or not. That’s because men and women have different needs in relationships.

Indeed, many cheats keep it secret depending on their own male or female needs in a relationship.  If it doesn’t really feel like cheating; it’s not a big deal to them. So they don’t feel guilt or remorse about it. If they respect their partner at all, they may just keep it secret because they just don’t want the other party to feel hurt.
