L-R : Eggs ; Spinach ; Carrot

Did you know that the height of the children is not completely determined by the genetic factor, but also has something to do with the nutrition they take in? Well, this new information is something I stumbled upon when I was on the net doing research on some issues.

Coming from a family of giants( tall and big), this information really amused me-I went home and asked my mother, if her parents gave her this food to make her that tall-but of course this was only a joke since she was orphaned at an early age forcing her to live with relatives and in hostels throughout her school life.

So what happened to me? I asked. I am huge, yes, but not very tall like the rest of the family members, yet I remember so well being nicely fed when we were growing up. Well, I guess sometimes it’s just the genes, parents ought to just feed their children the right foods and the rest will come naturally - she replied. If you are wondering what kinds of food can help your children grow taller besides the genes, then continue reading.

Green spinach

Spinach contains a large amount of iron and calcium, which can help children grow taller. However, many children do not like to eat spinach, but it is up to the parents to make sure that the children partake the required amounts to help them grow.

Carrot

Carrot is rich in vitamin A, which can promote the synthesis of protein in human body. Children generally do not like to eat carrots, but if you wash it nicely and give the whole piece of carrot while it is raw they can try to eat, also parents can make it into different kinds of dishes. For example, you can make it into carrot juice. If the children don’t like carrot juice alone, you can mix it with apple or any other fruit and squeeze the juice, which has a special taste and may be preferred by children. In addition, you can also add in some shredded carrots when you cook chicken, fish and beef stew, which not only brings a better flavour in the stew, but also has abundant nutrition.

Milk

Milk is rich in calcium, which is the most nutritious substance for the formation of the bones. Calcium could easily be absorbed by the children who are at the growth stage. Although drinking milk cannot guarantee that the children will grow much taller. However, if the body lacks calcium, it is certainly that children cannot grow normally. So drinking plenty of milk has no harm. Drinking three cups of milk a day can provide enough calcium for the children at the growth stage. Like my son, some children do not like the taste of fresh milk; therefore in this case yoghurt can replace milk. Milk is an essential food for the growth of the children, but if it is not handled properly with hygiene it can turn into poison, parents are therefore advised to be extra careful when dealing with milk.

Eggs

Egg is the most ordinary high-protein food, especially egg albumen, which contains plenty of protein. Many children like to eat eggs. It is very beneficial to their growth. Some mothers might worry that the cholesterol contained in egg yolk is bad for children’s health. However, they don’t have to worry too much about the cholesterol level for the children at the growth stage. Eating an egg every one day or two days is more appropriate. Sometimes, parents are also advised to change the cooking style when preparing eggs for the children- if you prepare the same thing every now and then, children will be bored and will not touch the eggs again.

Black soybeans

Soybean is a kind of widely recognized protein-rich food. Especially black soybean, it contains high content of protein. So it is very conducive to the growth of children. As found out, most children do not like eating beans- there fore it is up to the parents to device ways on how they can prepare these beans to look attractive and taste sweet for the children.

We might have the genes in us which most of the time dictate how we are going to look like or how tall we are going to be, but it also now proved that the kind of food we give to our children do also contribute a lot to their well being and growth. Every mother should incorporate these foods in the menu for the healthy growth of their children.
