DESPITE a wobbly display in the final round of the Rwanda Open, Kenya’s experienced golfer Dismas Ndiza still believes Jean Baptist Hakizimana has a bright future ahead of him.

Hakizimana marched into the final round with a three-stroke lead but six bogeys coupled with a clinical six-under par 66 by Ndiza swayed the competition in the Kenyan’s favour.

However, the 41-year-old maintains that it is a learning curve for the youngster.
"He is a relatively new player on the scene and you can clearly see that pressure got the best of him today,” Ndiza said on Sunday.

"But he will surely improve and become a better play. He is a fine player but needs more games to evolve into a complete player. It does not help him to play local competitions. He should be playing in Kenya or South Africa,” the Kenyan pointed out.

Meanwhile, the coveted East African Challenge Trophy rolled off yesterday at Kigali Golf Club. The event has attracted golfers from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and hosts Rwanda. Uganda is the defending champion.
