Two delegations of legislators from Sudan’s semi-autonomous region of Southern Sudan and Djibouti arrived in the country, yesterday, for a one-week study tour.

Augustin Habimana, the Parliament’s Director General of Communication and Outreach, said that the Southern Sudan delegation is comprised of 25 lawmakers while the Djibouti delegation has two MPs.

The Southern Sudan legislators are, today, due to attend a Parliamentary standing committee meetings, meet Rwandan women legislators, attend a plenary session and hold discussions with members of the Unity Club.

On Tuesday, the Southern Sudan legislators are scheduled to visit the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, as well as the Gender Monitoring Office, pay a courtesy call to the President of the Senate, Dr Vincent Biruta and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Rose Mukantabana.

They are also due to visit the National Electoral Commission (NEC), as well as Gender desks of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and the Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The Djibouti lawmakers will kick-start their study tour with a visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Centre today Monday.
