NEW DELHI : The administration of the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D) has given a green light to Rwandan students to pursue studies in advanced technology in India.

Prof. M. Balakrishnan, the Deputy Director of faculty at the south Delhi-based institute said that doors are open for international students, who have excelled in the field of technology and that such programs have already commenced with Ethiopians.

Balakrishnan was on Wednesday, October 27, giving a presentation to a group of 15 Rwandan journalists, on the state of technology in India’s top technical institute  
"We invite Rwandans to use this chance. The students will have to be recommended by their governments.  The institute is negotiating with the Indian government on how to make such programs affordable,” he stated.

The cost of pursing studies at IIT in science and technology is currently US$2000 per semester and the average cost of living for any student is estimated at US$100 per month.

IIT Delhi was founded in the 50’s and is ranked among the best technology institutions in India and among 50 best in the world. IIT graduates are in great demand from companies in India as well as abroad.

Some of the courses at the institute include Applied Mechanics, Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Electrical Engineering, among others.
