Inyange yogurt that had been almost turning into a supermarket staple is off stock, leaving consumers wondering when the product will be re-stocked.

The country’s largest  organic yogurt company announced that the main reason was equipment maintenance.

"We are aware that there was a scarcity of product on the market, especially for yoghurt, but it has been addressed as we have already started supplying. It was due to scheduled equipment maintenance,” said Victor Kinuma, the Marketing and Communication Manager in Inyange Industries.

In a min-survey conducted by The Business times, the product has been off stock for more than two weeks and, according to shop attendants, suppliers did not communicate the reason.

"One of my neighborhood supermarket this week said that the trend started while supplying only Vanilla flavour and everything stopped, they never told us the problem, the attendant said.

Kinuma said that currently Inyange has over 21 distributors, with 16 for the Kigali City  with at least  six export distributors, exporting to Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda. He said the targeting even more countries

"Our yoghurt is natural yoghurt to which we only add flavoring, but we will soon be producing yoghurt with fruits to offer the best variety of products to the Rwandan consumer,” he said.

Yogurt and other Inyange products are found in  both bigger supermarkets and smallest neighboring shops, in Kigali City, in the provinces and even on regional markets.
