I would like to commend the efforts of the Rwanda Defense Forces and the  Rwanda National Police for their efforts to fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV). The anti-GBV clubs that have been established as a way of creating awareness about the dangers of GBV are remarkable.

According to officials, these anti-GBV clubs have become major and effective platforms through which information related to SGBV is being disseminated.

Even better are the efforts to bring peace beyond Rwanda into the conflict areas of Darfur. Women in these regions have seen less violence thanks to Rwanda’s Police and Army that have introduced new policies and techniques to empower these women for their own good.

Women in Darfur no longer have to walk alone if they want to collect firewood for cooking—something that has led many into the hands of violent rapist militia in that region.  Women have been trained by the RDF Peacekeepers and Police on the use of energy saving cook stoves as a way of saving time looking for firewood required to cook, and this has consequently lessened their trips to the wilderness infested with militia.

Besides this there are several achievements by Rwanda’s security organs to bring peace in Rwanda and other countries in violence—which we must all acknowledge as worthy examples.
