Editor,

I would like to respond to the announcement MTN Rwanda sent to its clients that they will begin to charge clients using its roaming services in Uganda, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Belgium, Sudan, Swaziland and Botswana.

It is true that other countries charge their clients a certain amount of money when they receive calls outside their countries but given the nature of Rwanda’s situation, the rates are too high.

Rwf60 is simply too much for receiving a call! Can you imagine receiving this call would be much higher than making calls from within Rwanda!

I wish the charges were lowered so that we could enjoy talking to our loved ones and business partners while roaming.

Some of us are contemplating doing away with our lines because of these outrageous charges.
