Kabarebe meets top Chinese defence officials

The Minister of Defence, Gen. James Kabarebe, yesterday arrived in the Chinese capital, Beijing for a five-day visit at the invitation of China’s Defence Minister.

The Minister of Defence, Gen. James Kabarebe, yesterday arrived in the Chinese capital, Beijing for a five-day visit at the invitation of China’s Defence Minister.

A statement from the ministry indicates that the minister, who is accompanied by four RDF officers, visited the 6th Armoured Division of Beijing Military Area Command and paid a courtesy call on Li Zhaozhuo, the Deputy Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

"While in China, Kabarebe will also visit Nanjing Military Region Command and military training institutions that include Nanjing Army Command College and Nanjing Artillery Command College,” reads part of the statement.

"He will also visit a number of Defence industries, equipment exhibition centres as well as a Research and Development Centre”.

On the second day of his visit, the Minister of Defence is scheduled to meet with the State Counsellor and Defence Minister of the Peoples Republic of China, Gen. Liang Guanglie.
