Gen. Kayonga addresses TZ military college

ARUSHA - Lt. Gen. Charles Kayonga, the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) arrived Wednesday in the Tanzanian city of Arusha where he delivered “a lecture of opportunity” – “Emerging Asymmetrical Threats: The Case of the UN Mapping Report on the DRC” at the Command and Staff College, Monduli.

ARUSHA - Lt. Gen. Charles Kayonga, the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) arrived Wednesday in the Tanzanian city of Arusha where he delivered "a lecture of opportunity” – "Emerging Asymmetrical Threats: The Case of the UN Mapping Report on the DRC” at the Command and Staff College, Monduli.

On arrival, Kayonga was received by the Monduli College Commandant, Brig. Ezekiel Kyungo, the area Brigade Commander, Brig. Gitenga and Rwanda’s Defence Liaison Officer at the EAC Secretariat, Brig. Gen. Nolbert Kalimba.

Lt. Col. Jill Rutaremara, the Defence and Military Spokesperson said Wednesday that the visit was in line with the bloc’s defence cooperation and is aimed at further enhancing the existing cooperation through training and defence diplomacy.

"The CDS was at the College on the invitation of the Chief of Defence Forces of the Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces [TPDF], Gen D.A Mwamunyange,” said Rutaremara.

Monduli College’s current intake has 40 Senior Officers from the five East African Community (EAC) member states, as well as from the armed forces of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) states.

The RDF currently has one officer at Monduli.
Rutaremara revealed that the Gen. Kayonga is also scheduled to attend an Extra-Ordinary meeting of the EAC Partner States’ Armed Forces Defence Chiefs scheduled for October 22 – 23 in Zanzibar.
