THE Secretary General of Belgium football club RSC Anderlecht, Philip Collin has urged Rwanda to lay firm football structures as one way of developing the sport.

Collin, who also doubles as the vice president of the Belgian football association told Times Sport yesterday that it is through giving priority to youngsters that firm national teams are built.

"I have seen several playing fields and many talented youngsters. The only missing element is to lay firm structures for the game,” Collin explained.

"In many other African countries, they lack proper playing fields so Rwanda needs to make full use of their grounds.”
The Belgian also promised to support this venture by helping Rwanda’s budding players acquire professional clubs.

"In January, I will be back with a couple of scouts for the Caf U-17 championship. Promising players will be drafted into Anderlecht’s youth club,” Collin promised.

Anderlecht is the most successful Belgian football team in European competitions with five trophies as well as 30 Belgian Pro League titles.

They hold the record of most consecutive Belgian championship titles, after winning 5 titles on the trot between 1963-64 and 1967-68.
