He's known as Rwanda’s Hip-hop star, poised and confident at all times. Though Diplomate is best known for his music and swagger, he is also famous for his charming smile;

The 22-year-old star has landed a deal with Great Lakes Energy (GLE), a high-powered distribution network with an efficient methodology for mass sales and distribution of low-cost solar energy products for rural consumers in Rwanda and those in other developing countries.

Speaking to The New Times, the owner of GLE Sam Dargon stated: "We love the music Diplomate is making. We like that his lyrics are real and relevant for Rwanda.”
He continued: "….he supports the objective of our business which is to ensure access to clean solar energy in every village.”

The singer, real name Diplomate Fassasi Nuur, is the spokesperson for Akira Urumuri, a brand owned by Great Lakes Energy. 

Akira Urumuri production is Rwanda's leading record label which provides local artists with full support, inside and outside the studio.

Dargon said "Diplomate is our brand spokesperson; he explains the benefits of solar power to rural people on the radio.” 

"This is helping us. So therefore we help him by supporting his music and career with our new record label – Akira Urumuri Productions.”

Diplomate said the partnership will help him build his music career. His debut album ‘Umunsi Ukeye’ is expected to be launched in December, 2010. Dargon has undertaken to promote the album in the US and Europe.
