The Prosecutor General, Martin Ngoga, has urged prosecutors to uphold professionalism and quality service in their work. Ngoga was speaking at a meeting of the inspectorate of the National Public Prosecution in Musanze district, Monday, where participants presented preliminary reports showing the performance of individual prosecutors, from intermediate and lower courts, of Musanze and Rubavu jurisdictions.

Ngoga was speaking at a meeting of the inspectorate of the National Public Prosecution in Musanze district, Monday, where participants presented preliminary reports showing the performance of individual prosecutors, from intermediate and lower courts, of Musanze and Rubavu jurisdictions.
"We have to stay focused on our central mission. We have an obligation to offer good services, and should not be complacent because the challenges ahead are enormous and everyone should comply with new programmes of training and use of technology,” he said.
According to Jules Darius Ntete, the Inspector General, National Prosecution; the report which shows performance during this year’s first semester, and the years 2007-09, considered the quality and quantity of files, regarding cases handled by the prosecutors.
The assessment report on each prosecutor, considered the quality of work in terms of illegal detention, how interrogations were carried out, and amount of investigations conducted before submitting cases.
It also considered the way cases were submitted to court especially, the three elements which constitute a crime; material, moral and legal elements, qualification of offences and whether prosecutors observed the maximum detention time before charging the suspects.
