Given the energy deficit in Rwanda as well as the rest of the East African countries, looking at alternative sources of energy to power the country is necessary.

Already, stories of wind energy generation abound and I believe we are at the dawn of a new wind energy generation.

If Rwanda could, with similar zeal, establish the largest wind energy plant in Africa just like the Jali Solar plant, the mainstream energy grids countrywide would be supplemented for the consumption of all.

Currently, only six percent of Rwanda’s population has access to electricity. However, with the strides being taken to generate wind energy, the government will probably surpass its own target, increasing access to electricity by 16 percent in 2012, and 35 to 40 percent in 2020.
