Rwandatel has slashed international calling tariffs for its prepaid, Post-paid, landline and mobile users by almost 90 percent. Calls to the USA, Canada, China and India were reduced by 87 percent from Rwf245 to Rwf30 per minute.

Also calls within the region were cut by 26 percent from Rwf135 to Rwf99 per minute; calls to Europe, UK, Dubai, South Africa and Belgium were cut by 60 percent from Rwf230 Rwf90.

Rwandatel’s Corporate Communications Manager, Cleophas Kabasiita said: "The rates are...part of our promise to stay ahead in what has become an exciting and competitive market.”

She added that the new tariffs are immensely affordable, easy to understand, transparent and devoid of ambiguities.
Early this month, Rwandatel announced the increase in its subscriber base 35.2 percent to over 600,000 from 443,534 in June attributing the rise to the launch of the On-net Rwf3 per minute tariff.

The country’s leading Internet Service Provider (ISP) by market share also introduced its first Rwf200 scratch card for its prepaid mobile users, currently the lowest denomination on the market. Currently, Rwandatel offers the lowest local calling tariffs of Rwf3 per minute.
