The National Forum for Political Parties (FFPP) has announced a move to start countrywide awareness campaigns with the aim of educating Rwandans on its objectives, mission and platform.

This was revealed yesterday during a meeting to validate the institution’s 5-year strategic plan from 2011-2015.
Speaking at meeting, Phoebe Kanyange, the Forum’s Spokesperson and president of Prosperity and Solidarity Party (PSP), said that, it is of paramount importance for the people at grass root levels to understand the role of the forum.

"We are planning to sensitise the citizens about our forum, because most of them do not know the role it plays,” she said.

She called upon the leaders of political parties in the country to take the lead by sensitizing their members about the aims of their respective political parties.

"Some people join political parties without knowing the agenda of parties they join and this creates misunderstandings and at times factions within these parties,” she stressed.

Kanyange also called upon Rwandans to enroll at Youth Leadership Political Academy (YLPA-Rwanda) which trains young people who aspire to be leaders to sharpen their political leadership ethics and good governance.

According to Francois Ngarambe, the Secretary General of Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), sensitizing the masses about the forum is very important because it will enable them be knowledgeable in the areas of politics.

Sheikh Musa Fazil Harerimana, the president of Ideal Democratic Party (PDI), who is also the Internal Security Minister, urged members of the FFPP to first understand the meaning of the forum before taking it to grass root levels.

Augustin Niyitegeka from PS Imberakuri requested the members of the forum to hold periodical Radio and Television talk-shows as a way of creating awareness.
