Finally a good Rwandan performance in New Delhi

Editor, I haven’t had a great week as a Rwandan sports fan. The national football squad was beaten at home by Benin, the U-18 basketball team is on the ropes and I didn’t hear of one Rwandan athlete who did well in the Commonwealth games.

Editor,

I haven’t had a great week as a Rwandan sports fan. The national football squad was beaten at home by Benin, the U-18 basketball team is on the ropes and I didn’t hear of one Rwandan athlete who did well in the Commonwealth games.

That is, until Adrien Niyonshuti put in a promising display and finished inside the top 20.The South Africa based rider clocked 55 minutes, 27 seconds and five micro-seconds to finish 19th out of 61 riders.

That isn’t too bad.  It’s a performance that he can build on, as he plans his assault for gold in the next Olympics in London.
