Editor,

Mwalimu Sacco has been a blessing for teachers who had found it difficult to finance small projects to augment their meager salaries.  Teachers are now able to buy land, computers and even build houses.

However, this financial organization becomes a headache the moment you leave the teaching profession and want to quit being a member. When you are joining, they tell you that you are free to leave anytime you want and your contributions will be easily reimbursed. I have found out that it is not the case

First they ask you for the information that they already have. Then they ask you for the service contract from the place you have been teaching, and then they ask you a letter from the District; after you bring all those, they ask you to wait for two months. When you go back after two months, they ask you to wait for other 15 days after which I have not known yet what happens.

I feel that, with the new technology which Rwanda and Mwalimu Sacco has embraced, people should not be subjected to such a long delay of service.
