Famous artists survive car accident

Five renowned local artists, Rafiki, Diplomate, Mani Martin, Uncle Austin and Eric Senderi were involved in a car accident on Sunday evening, in the Southern Province. Speaking to The New Times, Rafiki said the accident occurred around 6 p.m, on Gitarama road, when they were returning to Kigali from their friend’s wedding in Muhanga district.

Five renowned local artists, Rafiki, Diplomate, Mani Martin, Uncle Austin and Eric Senderi were involved in a car accident on Sunday evening, in the Southern Province.

Speaking to The New Times, Rafiki said the accident occurred around 6 p.m, on Gitarama road, when they were returning to Kigali from their friend’s wedding in Muhanga district.  The singers were travelling in Rafiki’s Toyota Corolla.

"A pal was driving us; when we reached Gitarama prison, a pedestrian jumped into the highway, yet there was a bus ahead of us from Kigali,” he said. 

Rafiki added that "….as the driver strived to evade the pedestrian and the truck, he hit the man and my vehicle rammed into a huge tree on the roadside.”

Rushed to nearby hospital 

The artists and the driver but suffered from shock.
They were rushed to Kabgayi Hospital hospital, but the singers and their driver were discharged after doctors gave them a clean bill of health.

However, the ‘Igikosi’ star said that the unidentified man sustained severe injuries.

"The victim is still in the hospital, but I paid for his medical bills and damages,” Rafiki added.

Meanwhile, Rafiki’s treasured vehicle was left in parts.  This is reported to be the latest celebrity car accident in the country.
