The annual Trappish event organized by Ish Kevin and fellow artistes that belong to the Trappish movement will shift to Bujumbura this year, organisers have confirmed.
The concert, according to organisers, will be staged on February 13, in the city of Burundi and will be headlined by the youngsters currently driving Rwanda’s music industry.
Speaking to The New Times, founder of the Trappish Ent, Ish Kevin, said that the main purpose of the concert is to take the sound produced by the young generation in Rwanda to Burundi and interact with their fans based in the country.
"For the first time, we are bringing the culture of Rwandan Hip-Hop to the land of our brothers and sisters in Burundi, my second home. Be ready for the doppest artistes of Rwanda,” Ish said.
Another thing, he said, such moves indicate how Rwandan sound is growing big and reaching places far from its origin which is why young artistes are headlining at international concerts.
It will be Ish Kevin’s first performance in Burundi since he shot one of his hits ‘My Year’ in the country, where he also recorded most of the tracks on Trappish mixtape 2.
The concert will feature only Rwandan youngsters from Shemi, Ririmba, and Kenny Kshot to Og2tone and most of the members of the Trappish movement.
Ish Kevin rose to prominence after introducing UK drill in Rwanda and later formed a group of the drillers titled 'Trappish movement' which is taking Rwandan music by storm.
He was later ranked among the top 12 best African rappers in 2021 by the Native Mag and his single no cap ranked as the seventh hard drill song worldwide.
The Trappish movement is behind hits like ‘No Cap’, ‘Babahungu’, ‘Amakosi’ and many others.
