Rwandan envoy presents his credentials to Gabon

GABON - Amandin Rugira, Rwanda’s Ambassador accredited to Gabon, Thursday presented his credentials to Ali Bongo Ondimba, the President of Gabon. During the event, Rugira, who is resident Ambassador in Kinshasa,  the DRC, held discussions with Bongo together with other senior government officials.

GABON - Amandin Rugira, Rwanda’s Ambassador accredited to Gabon, Thursday presented his credentials to Ali Bongo Ondimba, the President of Gabon.

During the event, Rugira, who is resident Ambassador in Kinshasa,  the DRC, held discussions with Bongo together with other senior government officials.

Speaking after receiving Rugira’s credentials, President Bongo welcomed the Rwandan envoy and wished him success during his term.

He requested the envoy to convey his warm greetings to President Paul Kagame and hailed Rwanda for the recent presidential elections which were successfully held.

Bongo was also among the over dozen African heads of state who witnessed the swearing-in of President Kagame after the August Presidential polls.

The Gabonese President said that during his visit to Rwanda, he was impressed by the country’s tremendous economic development, landscape, the cleanliness of Kigali City, unity and reconciliation among the Rwandans after the 1994 genocide against the Tutsis, as well as the hospitality he received during his short visit.

Regarding bilateral cooperation between the two countries, he said that he had held fruitful discussions with President Kagame, and that the existing cooperation agreements would be swiftly updated so that new fields can be incorporated.

President Bongo stressed that soon he will pay a state visit to Rwanda in order to boost the cooperation between the two countries. He added that he was very supportive of a direct airline flight between Kigali and Libreville, so that people from both countries can easily interact and do business.

On his part Rugira conveyed warm and cordial greetings from President Kagame to President Bongo

"President Kagame appreciates very much the high level friendship between Gabon and Rwanda,” Rugira said.

The Ambassador added that the recent visit to Rwanda by Gabon’s President at the occasion of President Kagame’s inauguration is a testimony of the friendship that prevails between the two countries.
