THE national U-18 team ‘junior hoops’ continued their preparations for the highly anticipated Afrobasket U-18 Kagame Cup with a hard-fought win over new league champions KBC.

The youngsters, who are still gelling, showed glimpses of their class as they bounced back in the final quarter to register a narrow 59-57 win on Friday at a fairly packed Amahoro indoor stadium.

While the team could not reproduce this form during yesterday’s 54-81 defeat against the national senior team, one of the team’s assistant coaches Cliff Owuor noted that team is on the up.

"There is good progress in the team. The coordination and confidence is improving with every game,” the Kenyan said.
Teams are expected to start arriving on Wednesday, ahead of Friday’s official throw off.

La Palisse Nyandungu hotel will host six teams; five teams will stay in Lemigo hotel, while the home team is already settled in at Belvedere village.
