Kigali residents urged to uphold democracy

Senators and Members of Parliament have urged local leaders and residents of Kigali City to play a major role in promoting democracy and good governance within  their communities. The legislators made the call while sensitizing local leaders, members of the civil society and residents from Nyarugenge, Gasabo, and Kicukiro districts.

Senators and Members of Parliament have urged local leaders and residents of Kigali City to play a major role in promoting democracy and good governance within  their communities.

The legislators made the call while sensitizing local leaders, members of the civil society and residents from Nyarugenge, Gasabo, and Kicukiro districts. The speakers also discussed the importance of Parliament in implementing democracy and justice.

Speaking to residents of Kinyinya sector in Gasabo District, Senator Antoine Mugesera said that democracy should be based on culture, the history of the country and social welfare of Rwandans.

"We have achieved a lot as far implementation of democracy is concerned, but I also encourage you as Rwandans to always speak out on what is not going well in order for the government to intervene”.

The Mayor of Nyarugenge, Theophila Nyirahonora, said that the tour by the lawmakers helped local leaders and residents to better understand their roles.
