KCC registered a four-wicket victory over Right Guards on Sunday to throw the race for Group B’s two semi-final slots wide open.

The four-time Sulfo league champions, who were without star bowler Mohammad Jasat, restricted Right Guards to 154runs thanks to spot on bowling from Rizwan Pandor and Mehboob Jasat who picked a combined eight wickets.

Derrick Bayingana led Guards’ scoring wheels with 41runs including two massive sixes on mid-on while Jean de Dieu Mugisha (20) and Caesar Manzi (26) also added valuable contributions.

In reply, Nadeem Kawa (47) fell three runs short of a half century after being trapped Leg before Wicket by Dennis Mukama.

Shazad Shezad (27) and Mehboob (27) then steered the side home with four wickets to spare.

KCC, who were only playing their second group game, moved to four points, nine short of Guards, who top the table with 13 points. Indorwa are second with 8.5 points while Impala complete the top three slots with five points.
