The President of the Senate, Dr. Vincent Biruta, is currently in Khartoum, Sudan chairing the first session of Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR).

Rwanda currently holds the chairmanship of the forum.
Biruta will moderate the three-day session while other Rwandan lawmakers will be among the speakers during the meeting.

The meeting is attended by 12 member States including Angola, Burundi, Congo- Brazzaville, Kenya, the Republic of Central Africa, the Republic of Congo, Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. 

During the meeting, Sen. Valens Munyabagisha will make a presentation on the progress report on the activities of the Executive Committee and on the proposed rules of procedures of FP-ICGLR.
