Preparations for Miss National University of Rwanda (NUR) are in high gear. The university’s five courageous beauty queens will compete for the scholarship, cash prizes and the chance to be crowned Miss NUR 2010 in an event to be held this Friday, at the university’s auditorium.

The outgoing Miss NUR 2009, Vivian Umulisa, will crown her successor. Umulisa is a 3rd year student in the faculty of Agriculture.

This year marks the fifth phase of the university’s beauty pageant since it was first held in 2006. The ‘Miss’ also commonly known as the ‘Nyampinga’ was first introduced at the National University of Rwanda by Peter Higiro.

Today, the pageant is hosted annually in different universities and some Secondary Schools of the country.
