THE local volleyball governing body, FRVB, has named a strong team for next month’s Africa Men’s Junior Nations championship to be held in Tripoli, Libya from October 2-9.
The federation’s Executive Secretary Gertrude Kubwimana said that the team, which had training stints in Brazil, will resume training next week.

"Intensive training will resume next week when the team’s head coach Paulo de Tarso returns from Brazil,” she said.
While in Brazil, which is one of the world’s best volleyball playing nations, the team underwent intensive training in three different cities; Sao Paolo, Sao Coetano and Jundiai.

They also got an opportunity to meet one of the world’s most celebrated volleyballers Gilberto Godoy Filho a.k.a Giba.

The team will leave for Tripoli on September 29.
It includes Christophe Mukunzi, Theodore Muyango, Maurice Ndizeye, Bonny Mutabazi, Olivier Ntagengwa, Aimable Mutuyimana, Fred Musoni, Christian Shingiro, Marc Rukebesha, Placide Sibomana, Bienvenue Biyenzi, Athanase Bigirimana, Alexis Ntakirutimana and Vincent Dusabimana.
Paulo de Tarso reckons that a top four finish is certainly within reach.

As of January, 2010, Brazil was rated as the best volleyball nation in the world. Egypt (14) and Algeria (19) are the only African teams in the top twenty.
Rwanda is ranked 112.
