RUSSIA’s Vovk Stanislav added Omar Hedayet to his list of casualties after defeating the Egyptian 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinal of the ITF Men’s Futures at Laico hotel.

The Russian, who also defeated homeboy Dieudonné Habiyambere comfortably on Tuesday, has emerged as one of the favourites tipped to clinch the trophy after the shock exit of top seed and 2008 champion Matwe Middelkoop.

In yesterday’s other quarterfinal match, another Russian Bogdan Leonte also reached the last four after defeating Belgium’s Barts Govaerts 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

With a hefty cash package of Rwf 5.65m in the offing, the tournament winner will pocket a whooping Rwf 1.07m while the second and third runners up will bag Rwf 670,000 and Rwf 450,000 respectively. This year’s edition is jointly sponsored by Heineken and the Sports Ministry (Minispoc).
