THOUGH the battle between APR and Kiyovu for the new season (2010-2011) is still four weeks away, the clubs are already wrestling it out for new players. Reports have emerged that the two clubs are battling to secure signatures from Burundi’s Karim McKenzie Nizigiyimana and Ugandan international Johnson Bagoole.

The pair, who featured in the Orange Confederation Cup with AS Vita Club of DRC, was last week reported to be close to sealing a move to Kiyovu but fresh reports now indicate that mega-rich APR has stalled the move.

While APR’s Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa declined to comment on the subject yesterday, a close source to the club confirmed that the army side has every intention of signing the duo.

"I cannot comment on that but call me next week and you shall have a list of the new players that have joined the club,” Kalisa said.

Kiyovu coach Jean Marie Ntagwabira however remains unyielding about APR’s interest insisting that the players have ‘Kiyovu’ written all over them.

"The talks have been very promising and an agreement should be reached soon,” Ntagwabira confidently said.
After winning the pre-season Primus Cup and beefing up the squad with a couple of new signings, football pundits believe that Ntagwabira has a squad strong enough to challenge any club for the Primus league.

Kiyovu strolled though to the Primus Cup after ejecting APR at the semi-finals and beating Rayon Sport in the final.
Ntagwabira is also seeking to become the first coach to win three league trophies with three different clubs.

The 37-year-old has won the league with APR and Atraco.
