Mihigo planning mega concerts

Rwandan artist based in Belgium Kizito Mihigo, is in preparations for his two mega concerts in the country scheduled for October and November, 2010.

Kizito’s concerts dubbed ‘Inshingano z’uwababariwe’ will be held on Oct 30, in Gikondo in a fellowship titled ‘Régional sur la Miséricorde’— "Umuhire watubyariye umugisha’ on Nov 27 in Kibeho on the 29th jubilee of the appearances of the Virgin Mary.

Kibeho has a shrine which marks the exact area of the appearances of the Virgin Mary, officially recognised by the Catholic Church in 2001. The appearances took place between Nov 28, 1981 and Nov 28, 1989.

The two concerts that are free of charge will start at 4:00 pm, but members of the audience will be invited to offer what they can as a token of appreciation for the artist.
Kizito performed during the 16th commemoration of the 1994 Rwanda genocide against the Tutsi. He also performed at the official opening ceremony of FESPAD.

Kizito – Biography

Born in Kibeho, southern province on July 25, 1981, Kizito Mihigo is a genocide survivor and the author of 380 church songs.

Kizito is an organist, singer and composer who is recognised by the Paris International Conservatory of Music.
Since 2003, Kizito has been working for the unity and the reconciliation of Rwandan nationals in Europe. He has now dedicated himself entirely to the message of peace, forgiveness, reconciliation and tolerance.

He is the son of Augustin Buguzi and Placidie Ilibagiza. His father loved classical music, but he didn’t live long enough to see his son’s talent flourish. He was killed during the genocide.
