Funding must be found for this Centre

The Kigali Genocide Memorial

Editor,

I was saddened to read in yesterday’s issue of this newspaper that the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre’s education program, which targets the youth, is short of funding.

This is truly unfortunate. This kind of programme that the Centre offers is essential if the lessons of the Genocide are to be internalised by the young people in this country.

I’m of the view that the Centre’s coordinators should engage with the wider Rwandan public to find funding.

I personally would love to be involved in such a great initiative and I’m sure that there are many like minded Rwandans out there.

I suggest that that the Centre hold an event, like a concert, and use that kind of exposure to educate the Rwandan public on how the education programme will change the way young people view at Genocide, its effects and how to prevent it happening every again.
