APR have appointed Ernest Wilhelmus Johannes Brandts as their new coach, Times Sport can establish.

The Dutchman arrives on a one-year renewable deal replacing Erik Paske who turned down a new offer last month.

According to APR’s Secretary General Adolphe Kalisa, Brandts’ major goals are the Primus League, MTN Peace Cup as well as steering the club to the group stages of the coveted Orange Champions League.

The club’s honorary president Gen. James Kabarebe officially introduced Brandts to the team yesterday.

Brandts will begin his duties early next month.

During his playing time, Brandts played for PSV Eindhoven, Roda JC Kerkrade, MVV Maastricht and De Graafschap.

He also won 28 caps for Netherlands scoring five goals. He played for Holland at the 1978 FIFA World Cup.

As coach, he has managed PSV Eindhoven (1993-2002), RKSV Nuenen (2002–2004), FC Volendam (2005–2006) and NAC Breda (2006–2008).

In 2009, he was appointed coach of Rah Ahan but was sacked towards the end of the year following the club’s inconsistent run.
