I am a student at Kigali Institute of Science And Technology (KIST) and I read some news stories about how and when the government is going to cut the budget of institutes of higher of learning and universities, by 23 percent.

I appreciate the decision because it is meant to uplift secondary education but I’ve heard that most of the university rectors commenting on how it is going to affect the entire system, including losing some the of our lecturers.

This will, in turn, affect us the students. Therefore, I am of the opinion that more discussion is needed right away. All stakeholders must be involved in this decision.
