KARONGI - Residents in the Western Province yesterday joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 2nd investiture of President Paul Kagame.

Thousands of excited residents in several parts of the  region  took to the streets chanting songs of praise while many others stormed drinking joints as a way of showing their joy.

Most of those who spoke to The New Times said Kagame deserved to be President because of the tremendous qualities he has as a good leader.

"Kagame is a man of good character and he possesses exemplary leadership skills. That’s why we tremendously voted for him last month. We vow to always support him and that’s why we are excited by his inauguration,” Alphonse Kaberuka, an excited resident said.

In a related development, two mothers who expected to give birth today at Kibuye Hospital in Karongi district have vowed to name their children after the President.

"Because  of  the inspiration  our President  has been to me, I certainly will name my son after him even if I don’t give birth today (yesterday),” one of the mothers said.
